With a small team of volunteers and people with support needs, we collect waste paper from shopkeepers in our electric car.

This is how we work towards meaningful work for vulnerable people, fewer trucks in the city center, and better waste separation.

Perhaps you have already seen it driving around: the electric car of the Wageningen Waste Collective. Twice a week, we drive through the Hoogstraat to collect cardboard and PMD from shopkeepers. This way, these raw materials no longer end up in the incinerator but can be recycled.

The collection round on Thursday is staffed by clients and support workers from Zideris. The pick-up round on Tuesday is handled on a rotating basis by a small group of volunteers. We are looking for extra help for this Tuesday group.

In concrete terms, this means that once every two or three weeks, you drive the round through the city center together with one or two people with support needs. This will take you about three hours.

You get a lot in return:

  • happy shopkeepers
  • positive reactions from shoppers
  • You contribute to better recycling and fewer trucks in the city center.
  • and most importantly: the people you are out with are very happy and grateful that they can contribute something to Wageningen society.
  • a modest volunteer allowance

What do we ask?

  • You enjoy guiding the people who accompany you.
  • You are available once every 2 to 3 weeks on Tuesday afternoon
  • We can count on you on the dates you promise.
