Would you and your family like to share your home once a week, in a practical and everyday way, with families who need a helping hand?

Buurtgezinnen in Wageningen is looking for families who want to share their home in a practical and everyday way with families who need a helping hand.

What are you going to do?

As a support family, you become a pillar of support for a family in need regarding the upbringing of their children for an extended period.

The support you provide as a support family and the amount of time you invest depends on the agreements you make with the family seeking support. This can range from occasional sleepovers to childcare on fixed days of the week. And from babysitting to doing something fun with the children together. In short, it is tailored to the individual.

The support provided by a support family can also change over time.

What do we ask?

Experience in parenting, the desire to make a difference for struggling children in the neighborhood, and the time to invest.

What do we have to offer you?

The Buurtgezinnen coordinator supports both the support family and the family seeking a partner in the process of searching and connecting.

What makes the work worthwhile?

As a support family, you share what is going well for you. A family in need experiences relief and support because the task of raising children is shared and you are not facing it alone.

About Buurtgezinnen

Neighborhood families is an initiative based on an old idea: we do parenting together. Families who are struggling (demand families) are linked to a warm and stable family in the neighborhood (support families). This way children get some extra love and attention and parents are relieved for a while. The help is everyday and friendly. Demand and support families make agreements about support under the supervision of the Neighborhood Families coordinator.
