Expand someone else's world!

Humanitas is increasingly asked whether we have English-speaking buddies for people who have lived in Wageningen for a long time but do not have sufficient command of the Dutch language. They experience loneliness and need contact, support and understanding, but also simply... fun.

In principle, you meet the participant once a week. You can talk together, drink coffee or tea, walk or go out. In the meantime, the participant learns Dutch in a playful way. And hopefully this will lead to more independence, new contacts and ultimately more happiness!

Both older and young volunteers are welcome! The condition is that you have a good command of both Dutch and English.

What are you going to do?

As a buddy you listen and think about how he can approach things.

By creating peace and space, a person seeking help is able to focus on the future again.

Your commitment is approximately 1 to 3 hours per week. In addition, there is a volunteer meeting once every six weeks.

Required knowledge/skills: you endorse the values of Humanitas: equality, responsibility, self-determination, committed and demand-oriented.
