As a Debt Assistance Buddy you support people who have lost track of and control over their income and expenditure.

As a Debt Counseling Buddy, you will be paired with someone who has lost track of their financial administration and/or has outstanding debts. You will help them regain track, make a plan, contact other organizations where necessary, and budget.

You can mean a lot to someone by standing next to them in a usually stressful period. You think along about solutions and can also offer a listening ear.

The support can be short-term or up to a period of two years. The starting point is that the person seeking help remains in control. Before you become a Debt Counselling Buddy, you first follow a 3-day training.

About SchuldHulpMaatje Wageningen

SchuldHulpMaatje Wageningen supports people who have lost an overview and control over their income and expenses. In order to put the administration back in order, a DebtHulpMaatje can spend some time with the person requesting help. A buddy also provides support if a debt restructuring process is needed. We say goodbye when someone is self-reliant again.

A buddy and the person requesting help make agreements together based on a relationship of trust and respect for each other's privacy. We have a duty of confidentiality. The person requesting assistance retains the initiative and direction.
