Do you have a talent for cooking for large groups? And would you like to use that talent to offer 40-80 people an affordable, cozy meal on Monday evenings?
For 19 years, KomEet has been providing a simple three-course meal every Monday evening at the Ons Huis community center for people who are alone and in need of an affordable, sociable meal and a listening ear. See https://kom-eet.com. KomEet is an initiative of five Wageningen churches and Solidez.
There are four kitchen coordinators who lead a rotating cooking team of 4-6 volunteers in the semi-professional kitchen of Ons Huis every four weeks. The menu is known in advance, recipes are written out, and the groceries have been delivered. Work starts at 4:30 PM. The meal is from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Washing up and cleaning are usually finished around 8:30 PM.
Due to the departure of one of the kitchen coordinators, we are looking for a volunteer who cares about the target group and has some experience cooking for groups and leading a small team. Church affiliation is not required. Naturally, we will ensure you receive proper training. The schedule is drawn up well in advance. Swapping shifts is possible.
Working with a motivated, rotating team, and ensuring that KomEet's guests (often somewhat older and alone) are served a nutritious, tasty meal on time, brings great satisfaction and appreciation. The applause afterwards bears witness to this.
