Summary

We are looking for a legal representative (mentor) for a 45-year-old man from Wageningen to help him with decisions about care and welfare.

Detailed description

A mentor is a legal representative in decisions about housing, welfare, care and nursing of vulnerable clients.

What does a mentor do?

A mentor is the legal representative of people who cannot stand up for themselves in the field of healthcare and welfare. These are, for example, people with dementia, psychiatric disorders or an intellectual disability.

A mentor is someone who regularly visits his client, gets to know him and knows what he likes and finds important. But also someone who can make decisions in the field of care and welfare, which the client cannot make himself because he does not understand them or cannot foresee the consequences of his decisions.

Mentorschap Overijssel Gelderland is looking for a mentor for a 45-year-old resident of Wageningen. This gentleman has schizophrenia and would like to be supported by a mentor. He has a small network, which means that this support from his immediate environment is not possible.

Mentorship Foundation Overijssel Gelderland

Stichting Mentorschap Overijssel Gelderland advises and supports in finding a mentor (legal representative) for people who cannot stand up for themselves and have no family or others to fall back on. The subdistrict court judge then sets up a mentorship, which is carried out by the volunteer under the responsibility of the Overijssel Gelderland Mentorship Foundation. We carefully look for the right match between mentor and client, based on the wishes of both.

We offer:

Valuable and responsible volunteer work with personal contact, room for your own input, flexible scheduling, training, guidance and support, (social) work experience on your CV, an expense allowance. It is an exciting volunteer position with a 'bite'. Good mentorship is reflected in a combination of professional quality and personal attention.

Working time:

Working hours can be arranged flexibly, in consultation with the client. During the day or in the evening, during the week or at the weekend? You have the choice here. Average time commitment is 8 - 10 hours per month.
