The voluntary Neighborhood Mediator talks in pairs with neighbors who have a dispute. In order to bring neighbors back into contact with each other through a mediation conversation.
Job description:
The voluntary Neighborhood Mediator talks in pairs with neighbors who have a dispute. In order to bring neighbors back into contact with each other through a mediation conversation and to enable them to settle their dispute. You conduct intake interviews at people's homes and mediation interviews in a neutral place. You report to the coordinator together with your fellow mediator. And you also provide aftercare by calling the neighbors after a few weeks and asking how things went with the agreements made.Job requirements:
As a Neighborhood Mediator you can put your own standards and values into perspective, you cannot judge others, you can be neutral. You can express yourself well orally. You can also listen and summarize carefully. You are patient but also decisive if you have to. You can handle confidential information. You are prepared to follow the basic training in Neighborhood Mediation.What do you have to offer the volunteer ?:
As a neighborhood mediator you always work in pairs. You take part in intervision meetings about 6 times a year, you receive a basic training in Neighborhood Mediation and you also participate in an in-depth training every year.Working time:
Always in mutual consultation, mediation meetings are often in the evening.What volunteers need

Our volunteer mediators are trained to advise and mediate between neighbours. They are impartial, do not pass judgment and do not decide. They bring neighbors into conversation with each other again. Attention, respect and trust are important in those conversations.
