Would you be willing to occasionally drive residents of AZC de Keijenbergseweg or AZC de Bosrandweg to an activity in Wageningen?

On average, 600 people live in the two asylum seeker centers in Wageningen: women, men, children, singles, couples, and families.

The Keijenbergseweg Asylum Seekers' Centre is not within walking distance of the Wageningen city centre and is very difficult to reach by public transport. Residents who are not mobile, because they cannot walk well or cannot cycle, do not leave the AZC, or hardly ever do.

From AZC de Bosrandweg, it is not advisable to walk to the city in the evening.

Therefore, together with the Municipality of Wageningen, we want to set up a 3-month transport pilot in the autumn of 2026. For this pilot, we are looking for many volunteers to make the work light and manageable.

What are you going to do?

You will travel in a 9-person bus at fixed times and frequencies of your own choosing (1, 2, 3, or 4 times per month) from the AZC de Keijenberg to the center of Wageningen and back later in the evening. By offering fixed times, we hope that residents will be able to make use of the transport facility more easily and also participate more in activities in Wageningen. After the three months, the pilot will be evaluated based on the experiences.

As a volunteer, you have regular contact with the residents and make an important contribution to the pilot.

A coordinator from Welkom in Wageningen coordinates this pilot, and you will be assigned to a driving roster based on your preferences. At your indicated time, you pick up the residents of the Keijenberg, tear off the strip card for one trip, and take the residents to the center of Wageningen. Sometimes you also need to drive to Bosrandweg or to a specific location for an activity there. Occasionally, you drive the same route there and back twice.

Do you have a B driving license and would you like to drive a nice new 9-seater van? And do you enjoy making people happy by enabling them to get somewhere thanks to you? Or to the Community Center for a communal meal? Or to Thuis or the Superette? Then respond to this call. We will add you to the 'Pilot transport app group' and you will receive more detailed information about the pilot and the time slots you can choose from.
