Volunteer Bicycle Rental AZC Bosrandweg

What are you going to do?

We are looking for a woman or man for two half-days per month to lend bicycles to refugees at AZC Bosrandweg (asylum seekers' centre) in Wageningen. This makes it easier for residents to do grocery shopping (for breakfast, lunch, and dinner), volunteer work, or paid work. The AZC is located far from shops and the town centre. It is very nice for the refugees to be able to borrow a bicycle for the duration of their stay in Wageningen.

The bicycle rental service uses an online waiting list registration and a paper loan registration.

It is helpful if you have a knack for bicycle repair, so you can assess what might need to be repaired. If you enjoy it, you can also help with minor repairs on the bikes. However, this is not mandatory! We have skilled bicycle mechanics on our team for repairs.

Who are we looking for?

You are patient, clear in your communication, and able to interact with non-native speakers. Knowledge of multiple languages is helpful but not necessary. You do not need to have a perfect command of the Dutch language.

What do we have to offer you?

We will explain our working methods to you, and you can participate a few times on a trial basis.

What makes the work worthwhile?

It is educational and fun to get to know each other's culture. Newcomers are happy when they can ride a bike.

Working hours

The lending service is twice a week, on Mondays from 14:30 to 16:00 and on Thursdays from 09:30 to 11:00. We draw up a monthly schedule by mutual agreement regarding who is present when.
