Summary

As a volunteer at NAbij you support people of all ages in the last phase of their lives. They have a small or no social network.

Detailed description

You are looking for a place where you can volunteer for a fellow human being.

You want to think along, engage in conversation, offer a listening ear and a helping hand.

The starting point is that we are there for people.

The work at NAbij depends entirely on the question and the situation someone is in, but also on what you enjoy doing. You are an important support for someone who needs it, but also a colleague to make a difference with us.

For example, we can offer support in guiding you home after discharge from the hospital. A weekly or even daily visit, going to the doctor or examination, thinking about the situation, but also cooking together, going out, etc.

Further in the disease process we can be there during the day and, if necessary, also at night.

After following our basic training you will be deployed in consultation, so that it also fits in with your other activities.

Knowledge and skills

You have affinity with people in the last phase of life;

You are a good listener;

You take people as they are;

You connect and tune in to the other person, and to what he or she needs;

You are aware of your own limits and can indicate them well;

You are used to working independently;

You free up time for a work meeting or training.

What makes our work worthwhile for you?

You make a concrete contribution to preventing a fellow human being from dying in loneliness.

NAbij offers space for your own development.

We tailor the work and the time you can invest to your wishes and possibilities.

You will be part of a great team.

In addition to basic training, NAbij offers coaching and regular further education and training. If you get stuck during the performance of your work or if you have any questions, our coordinator is always available to support you.

For more information, visit www.nabij.nu or call Tjarda van Egmond, coordinator without obligation, on 085-0163333. She is available on working days between 10am and 5pm.
