Are you creative, active on social media, and do you want to contribute to a better future for deaf people in Uganda? Become a social media volunteer at Talking Hands!
Use your creativity and enthusiasm to make the work of Talking Hands visible and involve our supporters in our projects in Uganda.
About Talking Hands
Talking Hands is committed to the social inclusion of deaf and hard-of-hearing people in Uganda. Together with local partners, we work on access to education, opportunities in the labor market, and awareness regarding sign language and equal rights.
The role
As a social media volunteer, you ensure that Talking Hands is active and visible on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. You create and schedule posts about our projects, activities, and developments in Uganda.
To do this, you gather information, photos, and stories and collaborate with board members and other volunteers. You contribute ideas for interesting content and ways to reach our supporters.
You don't need to be a professional social media expert. We are primarily looking for someone who enjoys working with social media, is creative, and can create content independently.
Your tasks
- Creating and scheduling posts for Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn;
- Collecting photos, stories, and updates from Uganda and information about activities and fundraising campaigns in the Netherlands;
- Writing short texts;
- Contributing ideas regarding content and planning;
- Create or modify visuals, for example in Canva;
- Respond to messages and comments when necessary.
What do you bring?
- You would like to contribute to a good cause and make a social impact;
- You are interested in social media and enjoy creating content;
- You are creative and have a feel for language and imagery;
- You can work independently and take initiative;
- Good communication and collaboration skills;
- Experience with Canva and video editing is a plus;
There is room to further shape the role and contribute your own ideas and initiatives.
Time commitment
- On average 1-2 hours per week;
- The work can largely be performed independently and from home;
- Regular brief consultations with board members and other volunteers.
What do we offer?
- A meaningful volunteer role with direct societal impact;
- Plenty of room for creativity and your own ideas;
- The opportunity to gain experience with social media and communication;
- Collaboration with a committed and motivated team;
- A look behind the scenes at a small foundation active in development cooperation.
Interested?
We would be happy to meet without obligation to discuss whether this role suits you.
