The Toon Hermans House Ede (THHE) is looking for enthusiastic
Board members (m/f)
About the THHE
The Toon Hermans Huis Ede is a walk-in center for people with cancer, their family members and caregivers. From the Gelderse Vallei region, they can come to us for various forms of support in their life with cancer. People who have had cancer and their loved ones are also very welcome.
Our hostesses and gentlemen are ready for our guests. By doing activities together, by talking to each other, crying and laughing together. By informing and advising or by bringing guests into contact with other fellow sufferers. Our motto is: Continue together .
Our activities take place in the walk-in center at Hoflaan 2 in Ede, in the oncological center of the De Gelderse Vallei hospital and the Koekelt garden complex. There is a lot of cooperation with other parties such as the hospital. The THHE is affiliated with IPSO, the national umbrella organization.
What are you going to do?
Day-to-day operations are handled by a team of (voluntary and in 2023 also paid) coordinators. The board runs the organization. In general terms, at some distance but with great involvement. A board task costs you 8 hours per month, and you meet about 8-10 times a year. In the meantime, you sometimes attend a meeting of the coordination team, you have a meeting with one of the stakeholders, etc.
The board works together on the annual plan, multi-year policy plan and annual report. Ensures grant applications and a sound financial policy. The board also organizes evaluation interviews with the coordinators, and maintains administrative contacts with stakeholders in Ede and in the region. And the board is the point of contact for the national umbrella organizations of walk-in centers – IPSO.
What else do you need to know?
The THHE has been around for 15 years and really meets a need of people with cancer and their loved ones. There is a good network and THHE has a good reputation. 2023 is a year of major changes, which means that you can organize a number of things yourself together with the other board members. For example, there will be a paid coordinator, which is also a new administrative phenomenon. And the board has been/will be renewed, making a new division of tasks within the board possible.
What do we ask of you?
- managerial experience or interest
- affinity with walk-in centers and psychosocial support for people with cancer
- preferably a network in Ede, Wageningen or the region
- have a large dose of enthusiasm and the will to do the job well
- have good communication and social skills: listening and discussing
- being able to work well together
- enough time for this beautiful task
