Volunteer Accounting Officer

Who are we?

Refugee Under the Roof (VOD) stands up for the interests of refugees whose first request for asylum has been rejected. The Dutch government no longer offers them shelter and support is discontinued. Every year thousands of asylum seekers are thrown out on the street. Often ill and traumatized, without facilities, while it often turns out that they can still qualify for a residence permit. VOD is making a strong case for these refugees in Wageningen and the surrounding area, with a large number of volunteers.

What do you do as an accountant?

You enter all financial transactions (cash, bank, purchase and sales invoices) in the accounting package. You check the input and identify possible deviations. If you have any questions, you can fall back on our staff members and/or the treasurer.

If you have more experience, you can also enter the payroll journal entries, create sales invoices and prepare operating statements. That would be great, but it's not a must.

We work with e-bookkeeping, so you can do the work at home. You will need a PC or laptop and an internet connection. You are also very welcome in our cozy office.

We are looking for someone who:

• Wants to work for refugees, undocumented migrants and Refugee Under the Roof;
• In any case, you have basic accounting knowledge to be able to run an administration independently (or after a little help and guidance);
• Has some experience with working with an automated accounting package;
• Is familiar with the basic principles of Excel for, among other things, making overviews;
• Able and willing to work with others;
• Available on average 4 hours per month.
