As a desk employee you staff the reception of the Council for Refugees at the AZC.

Detailed description

Refugees live at the AZC POL for weeks/months until they move to Arnhem where their procedure begins, namely the hearings at the Immigration and Naturalization Service.


What are you going to do?

VluchtelingenWerk is an independent advocacy organization that represents the interests of people who apply for asylum in the Netherlands. The Council for Refugees provides information about the procedure and tries to support people in proper preparation.


In the morning, the desk clerk informs the new residents about the appointment with the Council for Refugees and provides them with information material. During the day, residents answer questions who come to the desk and receive substantive guidance. There are also administrative tasks, such as supplementing information material and answering the telephone.


What are we asking?

We are looking for someone with an open and friendly appearance, stress-resistant and with good communication qualities. Thinking and working level at least MBO. It is volunteer work where you deal with many different people from many different cultures. People usually do not speak Dutch and often do not speak English, so the ability to improvise is important.

You stand up for the rights of refugees. You help them build a new life in the Netherlands. VluchtelingenWerk stands for humanity and the right to live in safety.


Working hours

On working days. At least two half-days a week, the half-days are from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM or from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
