Summary

The Dutch Council for Refugees helps refugees who have become separated from their families due to their flight to reunite their families. Will you help them with this?

Detailed description

In Wageningen we would like to expand the Family Reunification team with enthusiastic volunteers. As a volunteer you can mean a lot to your client. You build a bond and keep your own files. Are you involved, careful and eager to learn? Then we would like to meet you!

Our volunteers provide this support

  • Explain the family reunification procedure
  • Helping with applying for a visa with which family members left behind can come to the Netherlands
  • Maintaining contact with the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND)
  • Contact a lawyer if a visa application is unexpectedly rejected
  • Answering questions from the IND together with refugees, and making agreements about sending the necessary documents from the country of origin to the Netherlands
  • Discussing with refugees what travel route the remaining family members should take to a Dutch embassy (usually in a neighboring country) and from there to the Netherlands
  • Contact the Dutch embassy to make an appointment with the remaining family members, for example for a DNA test.

What do we ask of you?

  • you are practical, patient and have empathy;
  • you are able to stimulate and motivate;
  • you have an affinity with legal matters;
  • you can work with a computer;
  • you are available 2 half days a week for a period of one year, so that we can offer our clients a permanent and trusted contact person;

We offer you:

We greatly appreciate the efforts of our volunteers. That's why we also want to do something for you:

  • a stimulating and challenging working environment with room for your own development and initiative;
  • an induction program and opportunities to follow additional training, workshops and courses;
  • a pleasant team, where experiences are shared to help each other and refugees together;
  • guidance by a professional;
  • plenty of opportunities to learn more about other cultures;
  • a travel and expense allowance;
