Up for a small (intercultural) adventure in your own city? Then become a working buddy! You will help a refugee who is struggling to learn the language with their integration.

What are you going to do?

Status holders—refugees who are allowed to stay in our country—can complete their civic integration by participating in social activities such as volunteering in addition to taking language classes. Together with a status holder, you will do volunteer work once a week. Volunteer work that you both enjoy!

You are the bridge between the refugee and the organization. In the initial period, you build a bond of trust together. Making the status holder enthusiastic and motivating them is important as a volunteer. You demonstrate the volunteer work first, and then do it together. By working together, the status holder learns Dutch in practice. And they get to know Wageningen organizations and Dutch culture. Gradually, you withdraw more and more until the status holder can manage on their own.

Who are we looking for?

● You are creative in working with people who do not yet speak Dutch (well).

● You can follow the other person: you are patient, you sense the other person's pace, and handle unexpected and unfamiliar situations in a relaxed manner.

● You respect and can adapt to the habits, attitude, and culture of the other person.

What do we have to offer you?

● You will head out well-trained and can always turn to the work supervisor and the cultural connectors at Vluchtelingenwerk.

● You gain relevant work experience with refugees in a social organization.

● Your travel and/or expenses will be reimbursed. You are insured during working hours.
