Summary

As coordinator of the VoorleesExpress Wageningen you support 5 volunteers who read to children with a language deficiency.

Detailed description

VoorleesExpress Wageningen supports children who can use extra support in their language development. Volunteers read to the family for 1 hour a week for 20 weeks. They also do other language activities to stimulate the child. There are currently 3 coordinators. We are looking for someone to strengthen this team.

What are you going to do?

As a coordinator you support 5 readers and families in this process. You visit the families three times in 20 weeks and ensure good coordination between family and reader, whereby the goals formulated with the family form the guideline.

As a coordinator, you are well aware of what is happening in the families' homes and you keep an eye on the expectations and objectives of the readers and families. Together you look at how reading aloud fits the family situation.

You hold three meetings with the lecturers, during which you coach them, allow them to exchange experiences and ensure that the lecturers work as intended. You keep the project employee informed of the progress. You also have a digital tracking system.

In addition to the 'interactive reading' training, there is a kick-off meeting for the coordinators at the start of each season.

You will be supervised by the VoorleesExpress project employee who is employed by the Wageningen library.

What should you be able to do?

-You have at least HBO thinking level

-You have a good command of the Dutch language.

- You communicate easily with different target groups (readers and families)

- You are easily reachable (by phone or email)

-You are reliable, responsible and tenacious.

-You are 18 years or older.

What do we offer?

-A nice volunteer place where you get to know families of different origins.

-You contribute to the reading pleasure and development of children who desperately need it.

-A great collaboration with the library and other readers.

-A training about the importance of reading aloud and how to do it in an interactive way.

-An annual subscription to the library of Wageningen.

Working hours

On average, guiding five families and five readers takes 2 hours a week. This concerns meetings with the lecturers, the three family visits per family, writing short reports, attending the training for coordinators and contact moments with the project management. A number of activities take place in the evening.
