Summary

Contributing to our mission: we strive for an involved society, in which people like to do something for others. Just like that, of their own free will.

Detailed description

Would you like to contribute to volunteer work in Wageningen in an administrative role?

Then we are looking for you!

We're looking for a (general) board member at the Volunteer Center Wageningen (VCW). Are you willing to actively participate and commit for a longer period? Then we'd love to talk with you. It's helpful if you have a network within Wageningen's social network, but it's not required.

As a board member of VCW, you'll be responsible for the organization's long-term vision and strategy. As a board member, you'll support permanent employees in their work by discussing the dilemmas they encounter in the field. Your support also extends to practical matters, such as conducting annual reviews, arranging contracts, attending networking events, and so on.

Skills we would like to see in you are:

  • Feeling for/affinity with administrative matters;
  • (Some) vision and long-term thinking;
  • A heart for volunteer work;
  • Sense of practical feasibility;
  • Good communication skills and a team spirit;
  • Enthusiasm and a sense of humor.

The board meets 10 to 12 times a year, preferably on Thursday evenings. We offer you ample time and opportunity to familiarize yourself with the board; there are opportunities for professional development. We have third-party liability insurance for board members.

Do you recognize the above skills and would you like to invest your time in a local organization that actively supports residents, volunteers, and volunteer organizations?

Email or call us, we'd love to hear from you! [email protected] or 06-83265736

Experts with a mission

VCW, the expert in volunteering in Wageningen for 30 years

We strive for a socially engaged society where people enjoy helping others. Just because, of their own free will. That's why we're committed to making volunteering successful on all fronts: for residents, for community organizations, and for the volunteers themselves.

Spider in the web of volunteering

In January 1995, eight welfare organizations and church bodies met. They wanted to connect volunteers with worthwhile initiatives and projects. What began primarily as practical collaboration has since grown into an organization that acts as a hub of communication between the various parties:

  • A place where residents can easily walk in with their request for help
  • The meeting point where everyone who wants to volunteer can find the right volunteer work
  • The center of expertise for various social organizations in the field of volunteering.

We still place volunteers in suitable positions with the same passion as before.

The daily practice

Wageningen Volunteer Center has a highly dedicated board. Day-to-day operations are managed by six experienced staff members and 55 volunteers. Together, they ensure:

  • A central counter in our new building at Stationsstraat 24 for residents who need help
  • A Participation Desk at two asylum seeker centers
  • An up-to-date job vacancy bank
  • Training for volunteers and volunteer organizations
  • Good cooperation with organizations in informal care and services
  • Promoting volunteering (online and offline, such as during events)
  • A strong network
  • A socially safe working environment

VCW is affiliated with the Association of Dutch Volunteer Organizations (NOV), the advocacy organization for volunteer work in the Netherlands.

VCW is a partner in Welsaam , the partnership within the social domain in Wageningen.

VCW has ANBI status for an indefinite period. ANBI stands for Public Benefit Organization. This means we are at least 90% committed to the public good.
