You will learn to better understand what poverty does to people and how you can offer support in a respectful and effective way.

Poverty is not a choice. More and more hard-working Dutch people risk falling below the poverty line. Behind every situation lies a personal story, often with challenges that are not immediately visible.

In this engaging and interactive training, you will gain insight into the impact of poverty on daily life. You will not only learn the facts, but you will also experience how financial scarcity influences choices, behavior, and well-being.

Topics covered:

    • Judgments and prejudices surrounding poverty
    • The theory of scarcity
    • Recognizing signs of financial problems
    • Having conversations about financial concerns
    • How you, as a volunteer, can actually make a difference

For whom?

For volunteers who support residents and want to learn more about the background, consequences, and signs of poverty.

Together we make a difference

By gaining a better understanding of the reality of people living in poverty, you can better meet their needs and engage in conversation with more confidence. In this way, you contribute to genuine support and new perspectives.

About the trainer:

Marjorie Heethaar is a partner at Opstaan & Opvallen and a pioneer in her own life. As a trainer and advisor, she embraces her intuition and looks to the future with her own vision.
