Summary

Do you interact with people with autism in your volunteer work or daily life? Would you like to learn how to interact with them effectively?

Detailed description

Coping with autism means learning to live with challenges. For the individual, but also for those around them. Regularity, routine, and predictability can provide support. The environment needs to adapt accordingly; you have to know, learn, and be able to do that.

As a volunteer, you'll come into contact with different people. Learn to recognize, acknowledge, and act helpfully. For yourself and for others.

With autism spectrum disorder (ASD), information is processed differently in your brain than in most people. This isn't the same for everyone; the characteristics often vary from person to person.

A lively afternoon where theory and practice come together.

For whom?

For volunteers who want to learn (more) about recognising and dealing with people with autism.

By whom?

Tiny van Hees, a psychiatric nurse, and Tom Rusting, who himself has autism, provide this training. They are both involved with the Stichting Naastentraining (Foundation for Neighbors Training ).
