"I like coming here because everyone sits together, plays games, talks, makes new things, and does small activities." Join in on Wed or Thu
I like it, even though we don't speak the same language. We are together, and that is already nice.
I like coming here because everyone sits together, plays games, talks, makes new things, and does small activities.
The women's group on Bosrandweg has existed for over 4 years. We meet every week to socialize.
- On Wednesday afternoons, we get to work in our own vegetable garden with a small group of women (2-6 residents). It is a lovely place for the women to take their minds off things for a while, and enjoyable conversations arise during the work. In addition, we take our time to enjoy coffee and tea and catch up with each other. The residents cook delicious dishes using the vegetables grown in the garden.
- On Thursday afternoon, one of the volunteers organizes an activity: something creative, chatting together, a game, making bracelets, bingo, practicing Dutch, or walking to the Arboretum... Anything is possible! We have a good time together with the women.
- Some women would like to participate in activities outside the asylum seeker center, but do not like going alone. It is nice if you would sometimes join a resident to discover Wageningen.
Would you like to be involved with women at the asylum seekers' centre? Then we would love to get in touch with you! We work with a roster where you can indicate your availability. It would be nice if you were available on average at least twice a month.
Day: Wednesday or Thursday afternoon
Time: +/- 15.15-17.15
Due to changes in residents at the asylum seekers' centre, the composition of the women changes throughout the year. Volunteers bring stability to the group by being present weekly. You can still sign up even if you cannot be present every week.
- Because the women are practicing Dutch, we ask you to speak as much Dutch as possible during the women's group.
- Not sure if it's for you? Join us for one or two shifts without obligation and see what you think!
