Would you like to volunteer at a day center for seniors with memory problems and/or intellectual disabilities? Then we're looking for you!
Care farm De Willemshoeve offers day care to elderly people with memory problems (for example due to dementia or a previous brain haemorrhage) and/or people with mild intellectual disabilities.
A day at the Willemshoeve
The day care takes place according to a fixed structure:
9.30 - 10.00 Arrival of guests with coffee
10:30 - 12:00 morning activity
12:00 - 12:15 prepare lunch
12:15 - 12:45 lunch
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM rest period
2:00 - 2:30 PM coffee
2:30 - 3:30 PM afternoon activity, while enjoying a drink
3:30 - 4:00 PM guests go home.
What are you going to do?
Tasks you will do when you are a volunteer team member include:
- Making and serving coffee to guests
- Preparing, supervising and completing the lunch break
- Have conversations with guests in the group (for example about current events or a theme)
- Engaging in activities such as walking, creative activities, playing games.
- All this in a small, informal setting where the guest's enjoyment is paramount.
Working hours
Volunteer shifts have fixed hours. Morning shifts are from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM or 2:00 PM (depending on whether you help with lunch or not). Afternoon shifts are from 1:45 PM to 3:45 PM.
