Summary

In your role you form the link between the Animal Food Bank and the media.

Detailed description

As a communications expert, you have a versatile role! You touch on the expertise of marketing, PR and communications. Internally, you think and help in the field of policy development. This could include: drawing up the communications policy, writing an internal/external communications plan, and creating a development plan for our website and social media. Of course, you also put this into practice. Furthermore, you are involved in drawing up periodic newsletters, drawing up a volunteer newsletter and writing website texts.

In your role, you form the link between the Animal Food Bank and the media. You have proactive contact with journalists and editors of local media such as newspapers or television programs. It is your task to make news about the foundation widely known, and to explain this as well as possible and provide information. In addition to this permanent role, you are prepared to occasionally visit the distribution points on location so that you see and understand for whom and how we do our important work. This allows you to convey our message even better!

You also have a good knowledge of the Dutch language because writing press releases, newsletters and other types of communication messages are also part of your job. We are a growing and active foundation, so action will have to be taken regularly to put us in the spotlight.

What are your responsibilities?

  • You think and write along with our communication policy and communication plan. You also help implement this;
  • You are involved in the (further) development of our website, together with our online content manager and the board;
  • It is your responsibility to proactively reach out to local media to generate positive awareness for the foundation;
  • You ensure that the press and media are correctly informed about the foundation;
  • You know what is going on within the foundation and proactively advise the board about potential communication expressions;
  • You ensure appropriate communication expressions that contribute to the foundation's reputation. For this you have close contact with the board and the online content manager;
  • You are the first point of contact for the media from the foundation;
  • Where necessary, you are the connecting link between the media and the board of the foundation;
  • You attend the biannual general volunteer meetings as much as possible, as well as other activities and events.

We are looking for:

  • Someone who identifies with and acts according to our core values: Reliable, helpful and committed;
  • Someone who is a strong communicator and connects. You can effectively convey a message both verbally and in writing, in correct Dutch. You think carefully about your choice of words, and you stand firm in your shoes during difficult questions;
  • Someone who can present convincingly to different target groups;
  • Someone with a heart for pet welfare;
  • Someone with flexible availability and deployability (everything in consultation);
  • Someone for a longer period of time (at least 6 months);
  • Someone with a lot of passion and hands-on commitment.

What do we offer you?

  • A great and rewarding volunteer position at a cool foundation with committed volunteers;
  • Annual outings, presents and gatherings;
  • You can take interesting courses and training for free through the Dierenlot Academy and other volunteer organizations;
  • You are collectively insured through the municipality.

Does this appeal to you? Then contact us soon! We look forward to your response and would like to talk to you to discuss the possibilities.

About Stichting Dierenvoedselbank Vallei & Veluwe

Animal Food Bank Vallei en Veluwe is a charity that has been committed to helping people in that region who live below the poverty line with their pet(s) since 2016, and who are therefore unable to fully feed and care for their pet(s). A group that often lives in social isolation and for whom the pet is of great emotional value.

We provide additional pet food and pet supplies so that owners can keep and care for their pet responsibly. In addition, we help our customers with advice, information and education, and we mediate where necessary.

With a helpful, reliable and committed team of volunteers, we work regionally from our distribution locations in Wageningen, Ede, Renkum, Rhenen and Veenendaal. As a result, more than 500 times a separation for financial reasons between owner and pet has been prevented in recent years. Animal Food Bank Vallei en Veluwe is not for profit, but does have ANBI status.
