Summary

You are responsible for one of our location distribution points.

Detailed description

You are responsible for one of our location distribution points. In principle, you have the same tasks as the rest of the volunteer team on location and therefore perform the same activities, but in addition, your role has a number of additional responsibilities. Together with the local team of volunteers, you ensure the ins and outs of your location before, during and after the distribution moment. You manage the key to the location and, together with the team, ensure inventory management.

You manage the local team of volunteers, motivate them where necessary, and ensure a good atmosphere. You are the connecting link and the first point of contact for the board, coordinators and the local volunteer team. For you, the coordinator assigned to your location is your first point of contact.

Together with all volunteers in the location team, you are responsible for:

  • You are the point of contact for our customers during the biweekly distribution moment. These can be existing customers who come to pick up items, but also new customers who you register on the spot and explain our working method;
  • You are the point of contact for donors who drop off items during the distribution moment. You take a photo of the donation and share it via the group app of your location;
  • You are responsible for repackaging the feed and ensuring that there is always sufficient repackaged feed in stock;
  • You keep track of who has been there and who has not and what the customers have received;
  • You are available at the issuing times for the relevant municipality;
  • Together with the team, you ensure a neat appearance of the distribution point. Any defects or issues are discussed with the coordinator;
  • It often happens that donations have to be collected in the region, you organize this among yourselves with the team;
  • You attend the location management meeting, the general meeting, activities and events as much as possible.

As a location manager you also have the following additional responsibilities:

  • You manage the local team of volunteers, ensuring that the above tasks are regularly rotated and that everyone, including yourself, can perform all tasks. It is your responsibility that the team can continue to operate during the distribution moment if you are not there;
  • You manage the key to the location, and in your absence you ensure that another volunteer takes over temporarily;
  • You train new volunteers and ensure that they learn all the tasks and are aware of the agreements made;
  • If a volunteer cannot come during the distribution time, try to arrange a volunteer from another location if necessary. If that is not possible, let the coordinator know;
  • Monitoring the agreed working methods and decisions, and addressing the team if this does not happen;
  • For the semi-annual cash audit, it is your responsibility to ensure that the necessary items are delivered to the treasurer upon request;
  • Identifying new developments at the location and discussing these with the coordinator so that action can be taken where necessary.

We are looking for:

  • Someone who identifies with and acts according to our core values: Reliable, helpful and committed;
  • A motivating and connecting personality, who can lead his/her team but also dares to take a step back and empower the team (letting them make their own decisions and show initiative);
  • Someone with courage, who stands firm and dares to engage in discussions when necessary, both internally within our foundation and externally to our customers;
  • Someone with a heart for pet welfare;
  • Someone with flexible availability and broad deployability (everything in consultation);
  • Someone for a longer period of time (at least 6 months);
  • Someone with a lot of passion and hands-on commitment.

What do we offer you?

  • A great and rewarding volunteer position at a cool foundation with committed volunteers;
  • Annual outings, presents and gatherings;
  • You can take interesting courses and training for free through the Dierenlot Academy and other volunteer organizations;
  • You are collectively insured through the municipality.

About Stichting Dierenvoedselbank Vallei & Veluwe

Animal Food Bank Vallei en Veluwe is a charity that has been advocating for people in that region since 2016 who, together with their pet(s), live below the poverty line and are therefore unable to fully feed and maintain their pet(s). A group that often lives in social isolation and for whom the pet is of great emotional value.

We provide additional pet food and pet supplies so that owners can keep and care for their pets responsibly. We also help our customers with advice, information and education, and we mediate where necessary.

With a helpful, reliable and committed team of volunteers, we work regionally from our distribution locations in Wageningen, Ede, Renkum, Rhenen and Veenendaal. This has prevented more than 500 farewells between owner and pet for financial reasons in recent years. Animal food bank Vallei en Veluwe is a non-profit organization, but it does have ANBI status.
