Summary
You will be responsible for our distribution point location, which will open in 2025 in the municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug.
Detailed description
Essentially, you'll have the same tasks as the rest of the on-site volunteer team and will therefore perform the same duties. Your role also includes some additional responsibilities. Together with the local team of volunteers, you'll ensure the smooth running of your location before, during, and after the distribution time. You'll hold the location's key and, together with the team, manage inventory.
You'll manage the local team of volunteers, motivate them where necessary, and ensure a positive atmosphere. You'll be the link and the first point of contact for the board, coordinators, and the local volunteer team. The coordinator assigned to your location will be your first point of contact.
Together with all volunteers in the location team, you are responsible for:
- You'll be the point of contact for our customers during the biweekly drop-off time. These can be existing customers who come to pick up items, or new customers who you'll register on-site and explain our procedures.
- You're the point of contact for donors who drop off items during the drop-off time. You take a photo of the donation and share it via your location's group chat.
- You are responsible for repacking the feed and ensuring that there is always sufficient repackaged feed in stock;
- You keep track of who has and has not been there and what the customers have received;
- You are available at the issuing times for the relevant municipality;
- You and the team will ensure the dispensing point looks neat and tidy. Any defects or issues will be discussed with the coordinator.
- It is common for donations to be collected in the region; you organize this within the team;
- You attend location management meetings, general meetings, activities, and events as much as possible.
As a location manager you also have the following additional responsibilities:
- You'll manage the local team of volunteers, ensuring that the tasks listed above are rotated regularly and that everyone, including yourself, can perform all tasks. It's your responsibility to ensure the team can continue operating during distribution times, even if you're not there.
- You manage the key to the location, and in your absence you ensure that another volunteer temporarily takes over;
- You train new volunteers and ensure that they learn all the tasks and are aware of the agreements made;
- If a volunteer is unable to attend the distribution time, please try to arrange for a volunteer from another location, if necessary. If this isn't possible, please inform the coordinator.
- Monitoring the agreed working methods and decisions, and addressing the team if this does not happen;
- For the half-yearly cash audit, it is your responsibility to ensure that the necessary items are supplied to the treasurer upon request;
- Identifying new developments at the location and discussing them with the coordinator so that action can be taken where necessary.
We are looking for:
- Someone who recognizes themselves in and acts according to our core values: Reliable, helpful and committed;
- A motivating and connecting personality, who can lead his/her team but also dares to take a step back and empower the team (letting them make their own decisions and show initiative);
- Someone with courage, who is confident and, when necessary, dares to engage in discussions, both internally within our foundation and externally with our clients;
- Someone with a heart for pet welfare;
- Someone with flexible availability and broad deployability (everything in consultation);
- Someone for a longer period of time (at least 6 months);
- Someone with a lot of passion and hands-on dedication.
What do we offer you?
- A great and rewarding volunteer position at a fantastic foundation with committed volunteers;
- Annual outings, presents and meetings;
- You can take interesting courses and training for free through the Dierenlot Academy and other volunteer organizations;
- You are collectively insured through the municipality.

About Stichting Dierenvoedselbank Vallei & Veluwe
Animal Food Bank Vallei en Veluwe is a charity that has been committed to helping people in that region who live below the poverty line with their pet(s) since 2016, and who are therefore unable to fully feed and care for their pet(s). A group that often lives in social isolation and for whom the pet is of great emotional value.
We provide additional pet food and pet supplies so that owners can keep and care for their pet responsibly. In addition, we help our customers with advice, information and education, and we mediate where necessary.
With a helpful, reliable and committed team of volunteers, we work regionally from our distribution locations in Wageningen, Ede, Renkum, Rhenen and Veenendaal. As a result, more than 500 times a separation for financial reasons between owner and pet has been prevented in recent years. Animal Food Bank Vallei en Veluwe is not for profit, but does have ANBI status.
