People from NAbij support people in the final phase of life when they cannot sufficiently rely on their own environment.
As a volunteer at NAbij, you support people in the final phase of their lives. These people are of all ages and have little or no social network. They live at home or are admitted to a hospital or a nursing or care facility in Arnhem and the surrounding area.
Detailed job description
You are looking for a place where you can dedicate yourself to helping others on a voluntary basis. You want to contribute ideas, engage in conversation, and offer a listening ear and a helping hand.
The basic principle is that we are there for people.
The work at NAbij depends entirely on the needs and situation someone is in, but also on what you enjoy doing. You are an important support for someone who needs it, but also a colleague with whom we can make a difference.
For example, we can offer support with accompanying you home after discharge from the hospital. This could include a weekly or even daily visit, going along to the doctor or for examinations, helping to think through the situation, but also cooking together, going out, etc.
Later in the disease process, we can be there during the day and, if necessary, at night as well.
After completing our basic training, your schedule will be determined in consultation, so that it fits in with your other activities.
What kind of knowledge or skills are needed?
You have an affinity for people in the final phase of life;
You are a good listener;
You accept people as they are;
You connect and attune to the other person, and to what he or she needs;
You are aware of your own boundaries and can clearly indicate them;
You are used to working independently;
You make time for a work meeting or training.
What makes the work worthwhile for the volunteer?
You make a concrete contribution to preventing a fellow human being from dying in loneliness.
NAbij offers room for your own development.
We tailor the tasks and the time you can invest to your wishes and capabilities.
You will become part of a great team.
What are the working hours?
In consultation
Does the organization offer training?
Including a Basic Training, Final Phase/Crossing Boundaries/Existential Pain training, etc.
