Job description:
As a language café volunteer, you help every or every other week on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM (including preparation) at Thuis or AZC de Keijenbergseweg.
In the Dutch language café we practice holding conversations in Dutch.
Everyone who wants to learn Dutch is welcome. The Dutch language cafés take place every Wednesday evening. Each meeting has a specific topic. For example, the news, health or (volunteer) work. We talk about that, sometimes with the help of a short video or images. We also often do role plays.
Groups are formed on site that have approximately the same language level.
As a volunteer you guide one of the groups and prepare a meeting once every 4 weeks. The groups consist of about 5 - 8 people. There are four volunteers present on the evening itself.
What are you bringing?
Do you have experience with learning the Dutch language as a second language and do you now speak it well (B1 level)? And have you been living in the Netherlands for a few years? Then we expressly invite you to respond. In addition to Dutch and English, knowledge of one of the following languages is an extra plus: Turkish, Arabic, Farsi, Standard Mandarin, Ukrainian.
Further job requirements:
- Being able to speak Dutch clearly and simply and to improvise,
- Friendly, patient, respectful and culturally sensitive.
What do you have to offer the volunteer?:
We meet four times a year as volunteers to talk about how things are going and what could be improved. We also offer support / materials where necessary in preparing the meeting and supervising it. There is the possibility to follow a language coaching training via the Digitaalhuis and webinars via Het
Starts with Language.
Working time:
Every week or every two weeks (based on your preference) on Wednesdays 19:00-21:00. In addition, a meeting of the volunteers four times a year to discuss how things are going and what could be improved. An average of 5 hours per month.
