Summary

As a volunteer coordinator of the language café, you and the language volunteers ensure that the Nederlands Taalcafé Wageningen runs smoothly.

Detailed description

In the Dutch language café we practice holding conversations in Dutch. Each week we talk about a different theme. As a volunteer coordinator of the language café, you and the 12 language volunteers ensure that the successful Dutch Language Café at Home, which has existed since 2017, continues to run and improves.

Job description:

Every week you spend about 2 to 4 hours on this voluntary work. Some tasks are weekly, some only once every six months:

Management of the mailbox, contact with contact persons at COA and Thuis Wageningen about the use of space, promotion and other matters, recruitment, intake and evaluation of volunteers, preparing language café volunteer meetings (4x per year), management of the Language Café budget from the initiative fund, planning and to keep up with. You also point the language volunteers to new materials / training from Het Begint met Taal, the volunteer center or the Digital House.

What are you bringing?

We appreciate it if you have experience in language coaching and recruiting and retaining volunteers. But I know from experience (Djuna): that can also be learned by doing.

Do you have experience with learning the Dutch language as a second language and do you now speak it well (B1 level)? And have you been living in the Netherlands for a few years? Then we expressly invite you to respond.

Further job requirements:

  • You keep an overview
  • You are good at teamwork
  • You are friendly, patient, respectful and culturally sensitive.

What do you have to offer the volunteer?:

We meet four times a year as volunteers to talk about how things are going and what could be improved. We also have an archive of materials.

There is the possibility to follow a training course in language coaching via the Digital House and training courses for coordinators of language coaching via Het Begint met Taal.

Working time:

You are involved in the background with the volunteers and you have contact with cooperation partners. So working hours are flexible.

If you want, you can sometimes participate as a language volunteer on Wednesday evenings. In addition, you organize a meeting of the volunteers four times a year to discuss how things are going and what could be improved.
