Together with a refugee who is having difficulty learning the language, you will serve coffee at Group 9, a coffee morning for the elderly.

What are you going to do?

Together with a woman who is going through the integration process and is learning the language slowly, you will serve coffee at Group 9. This is a coffee morning for the elderly at the primary school in Northwest.

You are the bridge between the refugee and the organization. In the initial period, you build a bond of trust together. Making the status holder enthusiastic and motivating them is important as a volunteer. You demonstrate the volunteer work first, and then do it together. By working together, the status holder learns Dutch in practice. And they get to know Wageningen organizations and Dutch culture. Gradually, you withdraw more and more until the status holder can manage on their own.

When

During school weeks, on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:45.

Who are we looking for?

● You are creative in working with people who do not yet speak Dutch (well).

● You can follow the other person: you are patient, you sense the other person's pace, and handle unexpected and unfamiliar situations in a relaxed manner.

● You respect and can adapt to the habits, attitude, and culture of the other person.

What do we have to offer you?

● You will head out well-trained and can always turn to the work supervisor and the cultural connectors at Vluchtelingenwerk.

● You gain relevant work experience with refugees in a social organization.

● Your travel and/or expenses will be reimbursed. You are insured during working hours.
